Mirror Text Generator

Mirror text reflects each character left to right and reverses the order of the string, so the line reads correctly when held up to a mirror. It pastes into bios, captions, posts and chats.

Screen readers and search

This style swaps the letters for different characters, so a screen reader reads out character names instead of your word, and the text stops matching a search.

Usernames are different

Every style here works in a bio, caption, message or status. None of them work in an @username or handle: those fields are checked against a short list of plain characters and anything else is refused. That is the field rejecting the characters, not the generator failing.

Worth knowing

The character order is genuinely reversed, so the text reads backwards to a computer even though it looks right to you.

How it works

The mirroring is a substitution, not a visual transform. For each letter and digit the generator picks a Unicode character that looks like its horizontal reflection, then writes the string out backwards so the reflection works as a whole line rather than letter by letter. None of this requires a font, and nothing is installed at either end.

Every letter and every digit has a partner, so coverage is complete. Some partners are exact, such as the letters that are already symmetrical, and others are near matches taken from Latin extensions and Cyrillic. Where a mirrored form is only approximate the shape is still clearly readable in a mirror, but it will not be a perfect reflection, and no generator can promise otherwise.

Two practical points. Because the character order is reversed, the text is awkward to work with: cursor movement, selection and backspace all operate on the underlying order rather than on what you see. And because real letters have been swapped out, a screen reader reads a list of character names and no search will match the words, so this is a novelty style rather than one for information anybody needs. Content fields take it; @usernames and handles do not.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to what people ask us most

Is mirror text the same as upside down text?

No. Mirror text is flipped left to right, as a reflection. Upside down text is rotated by a half turn. Both reverse the character order, but they use different sets of substitute characters.

Why does editing behave strangely?

The string is stored in reverse. Your device applies keys and selections to the underlying order, so the cursor appears to move the wrong way. Compose your text first, then convert it.

Are all the mirrored letters exact?

Not all of them. Unicode has no dedicated mirrored alphabet, so some letters use the closest available lookalike from another block. The line reads clearly in a mirror, but a few shapes are approximations.

Where can I use it?

In bios, captions, posts, comments, statuses and direct messages on Instagram, TikTok, Discord, WhatsApp, X and Facebook. Handle fields reject it, as they reject every styled character.
