How it works
Most people search for this as outline text, so that is what the page is called, but the official Unicode name is double-struck and it is also known as blackboard bold. It comes from mathematics, where a doubled stroke marks out sets of numbers: the reals, the integers and so on are written with exactly these characters. Your letters are swapped for them one by one, with no font installed and nothing downloaded.
Coverage is complete, which sets this style apart from the other decorative ones. Upper case, lower case and the digits 0 to 9 all have double-struck forms, so a line containing a date or a price converts fully instead of leaving the numbers behind. As with the script and fraktur ranges, several capitals were already encoded as letterlike symbols and had to be sourced from their original positions, seven of them in total, so the alphabet renders without gaps.
This is the clearest case where Unicode's own guidance is worth repeating: the core specification says these characters exist for mathematical and technical notation and should not be used to style ordinary text. Doing it anyway costs you searchability and screen reader support, since the letters underneath are gone. There is also a small risk of being misread, because a reader familiar with mathematics may take a double-struck capital as a set symbol rather than a letter. Short display lines are fine; documentation and anything technical are not.
